What is onboarding? I am glad you asked! Onboarding is new to us in Western Pa but has been developed and used in other conferences. It is a process to help the transition when a church receives a new pastor. It is more than welcoming a new pastor. It helps the church and pastor get to know the leadership and church in a more in depth way.

Our bishop has said that "on-boarding responds to two challenges. First, how the pastor can learn about their new ministry appointment quickly, rather than stumbling upon some important information later. And second, how the pastor can create a bond with other key ministry leaders who need to advise them, support them, and have their back."

It is a way for us to come to the table together and share important information and then leave that table ready to work together and collaborate on ministry together. We will be led by a pastor trained in the Onboarding process, the Rev David Lake, and he will facilitate the discussions. We will also share a meal together as we begin. Please try and attend this event if you can. You are vital to this process! There will be a sign up sheet on the table in the narthex.
